What are 5 things I should know about you?
I wasn’t diagnosed until adulthood but I have ADHD and high-functioning anxiety. Before I had a more formal understanding of the way my brain processes things, I used the toolkit I’ve built through my yoga practice to help organize my thoughts, emotions, and their connection to my body. That’s why I believe so strongly in this as a means of healing!
Before I knew about the concept of grounding, I felt this need to get my feet in contact with the earth. I have always hated wearing shoes and prefer to run around barefoot as often as I can. Now I know science supports the idea of connecting with the earth and it makes sense to connect physically with the earth for our own wellbeing. Take that, mom!
I am perpetually in awe of the natural wonders of our planet. I love travelling to National Parks and seeing the insanely beautiful landscapes that make up our home. I’m happiest when I feel like I’m sitting in a nature calendar.
I love being creative! I used to be a wedding florist and getting to create art using nature as a medium was so much fun! I’m also a chronic hobbyist and am always picking up different creative and artsy projects.
I am an enneagram 2w1, known commonly as the companion. My greatest drive in this life is helping others and helping them along in their journey. I can confidently say I have found my dream job teaching yoga!
What is class like with you?
I know that life moves in cycles and I structure my classes according to that fact. I am very mindful of what my students have going on in their lives and I plan classes that cater to students’ current needs. Sometimes that it based on personal needs, if students are willing to let me into their lives that way, or it can be based on communal needs like the inevitable stress of the holidays, work/life balance, and seasonal changes. There will always be movement, the intensity varies. I will always incorporate elements of breathwork and meditation in an effort to bring the body and mind into stillness and harmony. I love sprinkling in bits of yogic wisdom too!
What is the most important part of practice for you?
Being adaptable is so important! Every body is different and there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to yoga. There are days where we want a little extra challenge and days where we need to back off a bit in order to be in our best body and mindset. I am passionate about helping you make whatever tweaks you need to get the most out of your practice.
What makes you different from other yoga teachers?
I put a lot of focus on going beyond the poses to make sure all eight limbs of yoga are addressed. I recognize the way our bodies and minds are all so different and am happy to make changes according to my students’ needs and goals. I care so deeply and so genuinely about my students and want to see you all thrive!
Did we just become best friends?
I hope so! Let’s grab coffee or go on a hike sometime :)
